Auckland 'Cloth Nappy Know How Classes'
Hire Kits and Cloth Nappy Trial Packs
The Cloth Nappy Know How classes in Auckland will inform parents with all they need to know about modern cloth nappies. The classes are designed to inform parents who are planning on using the Cloth Nappy Kits. By attending the classes parents can either purchase the Cloth Nappy Trail Packs for $15 containing $70 worth of nappies or sign up for a Cloth Nappy Hire Kit.
The Cloth Nappy Know How classes will cover:
- The 5 Main nappy options available to parents today - Disposables, Pre-folds with covers, Pocket nappies, Fitted nappies with covers and All in Ones
- Liners and boosters – what are they and why would you use one
- Fabrics – what modern nappy fabrics are available today?
- How to choose your nappies – Which one will be suitable for your baby
- Washing your nappies – no different to washing your clothes
Things are changing in Auckland this year so come back for dates and venues in February or email me and I will let you know when they are all booked and confirmed
Interested parents or caregivers can phone the Council's 24hr Call Centre on (09) 301 0101 to make a booking with The Cloth Nappy Education Centre.
All Auckland residents are welcome to attend the class for free and are able to either purchase a trial pack for $15 (please bring cash) or book a hire a kit for 7 weeks.

More than 600,000kgs of disposable nappies and sanitary waste goes to the Oamaru landfill every year. That's a lot of space being wasted. There are some other things to think about too:
Getting to the bottom of the problem
For the sake of our landfill and the environment, we want to encourage all new parents to have a go at using cloth nappies.
Becoming a new parent can be stressful (and expensive),so the Council wanted to make getting started with cloth nappies as easy as possible. That's why we're providing cloth nappy starter packs for new parents for just $10. These packs would normally retail for around $100!
So What is in your pack?
Each cloth nappy starter pack contains 4 modern cloth nappies from 4 different suppliers.
For just $10. You get around $100 worth of nappies.
The nappy pack also contains The Nappy Lady's helpful guide to modern cloth nappies, including information on how to wash them.
Each pack is suitable for boys or girls. 2 of the nappies in the pack will even fit your baby from birth to potty.

Queenstown Nappy Lady Workshops
Queenstown Lakes District – including Wanaka
The Happy Nappy Scheme launched on Tuesday 1 November. As of Jan 2012 all the available Happy Nappy packs had been distributed. Council will be evaluating the success of the scheme later this year with a view to repeating it if there's a need.
Parents can pay just $10 at customer services and get a pack of nappies valued at $140. Each pack has a combination of nappy brands and styles specifically picked for Queenstown weather conditions.
